Finally I have some time to update the blog.

This is my third week in New York. For anyone wondering: I am studying jazz and contemporary music at the New School. I have just sorted out the paperwork and I am ready to play. I have met a lot of people, and most of the students here sound great.

The school is well organized and it keeps me busy: homework, catching shows around the city, going to talks, practicing a lot. Even so, I still have plenty of free time, with Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays off. I am seriously thinking about getting a weekend job, maybe something in music.

Some classes are genuinely boring (the English course, for one), and others only because I already covered the material back in Italy. That is tied to the fact that I still have trouble getting my transfer credits from the Conservatory recognized.

I caught some shows at the Garage and the 55 Bar. The most interesting was one by Ben Van Gelder.

I miss my family, my girlfriend and my Italian friends a lot. My most devoted fans threw me a "spaghettata" (a dinner built around spaghetti) and gave me a present to celebrate my big trip to the U.S. It was a t-shirt with a picture of, from left to right, Pat Metheny, me, and Chet Baker. Much appreciated. The t-shirt will be in the store soon. Stay tuned.
