Thanks to my musician friends, I got to play an awesome concert with Steve Potts last night.

It was a private concert, so there was a wonderful, intimate feeling, and the audience was very warm.

For this concert I joined Gianni Lenoci's Hocus Pocus 4et. The lineup was the renowned Gianni Lenoci on piano, Pasquale Gadaleta on bass, Giacomo Mongelli on drums, Vittorio Gallo and me on saxophones, and of course Steve Potts on soprano and alto.

Steve is an incredible musician. His playing reminded me of our first purpose as musicians: to create feelings and connections with people. Sometimes it is not about playing the right notes on the chords, it is about feeling. He plays from the gut, as I like to say. He plays ideas and emotions.

The other musicians play together often, too, so the music was just burning.

We played original tunes and one standard, "Stella by Starlight." We also played Gianni's arrangements of some beautiful pieces by the Italian composer Nino Rota (best known for his film scores).

I am looking forward to playing with these cats again as soon as possible.
